Reading between the lines.
Cuz Brownie has made an offer I couldn't refuse. "Lord Sedgwick of Sanity Clause – because I’d like to know."

(Well, she does have a judiciously applied mean streak and ready access to thoroughbred horses' heads that can end up under the blankets of your latest purchase from "Captain Snooze" at any given and inopportune moment.)
So here we go: -
1) Total number of books I've owned:
A damn lot. There was a spending spree back in the 70s when "The Helping Hand" at Thornbury used to have a fete. Evidently they had access to someone at Penguin Books who donated truck-loads of their latest publications. At 20 cents a book, they were irresistible. (Purchases of Penguins by the yard was well worth the broken rear axle of the overloaded Mini-Moke.)
2) The last book I bought:
A signed copy of a Peter Temple detective novel from L'Espresso in Ballarat, but it was for a present for a mate turning 60.
3) The last book I read:
"Little Birds" by Anais Nin. Reread after 30 years, proving you should be very circumspect and selective in rereading books that you initially thought were "ace". (Which is the reason I've never reread "The Magic Faraway Tree" by Ms Blyton, or any Biggles books.) The erotic titillation of thirty years ago was replaced by the realisation that (certainly as far as this little tome is concerned) Anais is a very repetitious and plodding writer.
4) 5 books that mean a lot to me:
"Breakfast of Champions" - Kurt Vonnegut.
"Catch 22" - Joseph Heller.
"Cold Comfort Farm" - Stella Gibbons.
"The Vivisector" - Partick White.
"Under Milkwood" - Dylan Thomas.
5) Tag 5 people and have them fill this out on their blogs:
OK, if they read this then the following should consider themselves well and truly tagged.
Boynton. ...... DONE.
Barista.
Burnt Karma....... DONE.
Spiceblog. ...... DONE.
Sailing Close to the Wind. ...... DONE.
